Andy Mac returns to CDE Cookstown 100 after injury

Andy MacAlister, or Andy Mac as we all know him, is one of the most popular riders on the grid this weekend. The 42-year-old, now fully recovered from a horrendous crash at Kirkistown in 2021, is relishing his return to the CDE Group Cookstown 100; Andy enjoys Cookstown at the start of the year because it gets the brain into gear and dusts off the leathers and always with great racing at this super road race. Cookstown is one of the long-standing events, and it’s a pleasure and an honour to be involved! The 42-year-old Self-employed Plumbing and Heating Engineer from Bangor began racing in 2014 before turning his hand to the roads in 2017. Back to full fitness, Andy's focus this year will be on the CDE Group Cookstown 100, NW200, Armoy, Pre TT and Manx GP, And a few Irish circuits in the mix too. With my current sponsors, the start of the season is possible, and to continue through the season, there are many advertising opportunities for any other company or individuals to come on board. This year Andy will be riding a 500 Drixton Honda on the roads in Ireland, PreTT, and Irish circuit events. Along with riding his own, ZX10R Superbike, 600 Suzuki supersport and 400 lightweight supersport, alternately at events here and at the Manx GP. Many thanks currently to... Paddy Convery had a passion and dedication to the world of road racing that was second to none. An advocate for the next generation of racers, Paddy supported wherever he could and was a safe pair of hands sweeping riders up when they fell. Last night, Adrian Convery attended the press night in the Royal Hotel, Cookstown, along with members, competitors, and well-known faces in road racing. It was great to get together and hear stories that span over 100 years. CDE is proud to be able to support the event in Paddy’s memory. It’s an event that brings both the local community and those from further afield together to celebrate an incredible sport.
