Nigel returns to KDM Hire Cookstown 100 after 9 year absence

Before making his way back to his native Ireland, I caught up with Nigel Rea, who is making a return to the KDM Hire Cookstown 100 for his first time since 2012, Here is what Nige had to say! “It’s my return to Cookstown and the last time there was I think 2012. I’ve raced there 4 times on varying machinery. I’ve had some success on super twin one year in the junior support and super twin B where I and this photographer fella( onboard bike #6, some fella called McCaughey! Lol ( enjoyed duels on corrected time! I think he pipped me in one race and I pipped him in another although we were in different waves! ( That's correct Nigel!, we had great races that day!) I’ve enjoyed many road races in Ireland, my fathers side all from Ardoyne in Belfast and I still have much family there today so racing on home soil is always fantastic for me. I have represented Ireland in Australia and also raced MGP where I am a TT course instructor working with newcomers. I’ve won replicas in Mgp races, had a top ten finish on a post-classic and twice finished classic TT races as 2nd place privateer in class winning two silver replicas. I’ve also contested UGP, NW200 and on national roads, Oliver’s mount, Aberdare Park, Bush, mid-Antrim, Walderstown, Jurby road south, post TT and Wanganui in New Zealand. I enter Cookstown this year on super twin, supersport 600 and a new Zx10 for the open and Cookstown100 races. I also have a well-known Son Ben Rea. He has had previous success at Cookstown as it was his first Irish national race back in 2012. He will contest this weekend on a classic 350 and 500. Ben narrowly missed the Armoy podium and broke down in the 350 race in a very strong position.
